I come to Ellie's, at least once a month. We celebrate birthdays or share company. This year we decided to order their traditional thanksgiving meal, and it did not disappoint. Ordering was a breeze with Samantha, even after I made adjustments. Ellie's was transformed into the ultimate pick up location. Set times were given, the food and staff were very well organized. They wheeled out the food to the car. The food was extremely well packaged, you can tell they take it seriously! The food was warm and ready to eat when we got home. I would go as far to say everything was impeccable. They could not have done a better job. And the food... well I got praised on their behalf for making the delicious and right choice. From the cranberry sauce to the yams and rolls. The turkey was juicy and flavorful. I would certainly recommend them for any catering need. Thank you Ellie's table staff for serving us with the utmost excellence.
My girlfriend and I decided to visit Ellie's Table at The Egan House in San Juan Capistrano for Saturday morning brunch. First of all, parking can be quite difficult, especially during peak times. There are about 5 spaces in the parking lot, but after that, you are on your own to attempt to find street parking or adjacent lot parking. It can definitely be a challenge, especially on a weekend. We entered the building and checked out the menu. There are a few pre-made items (pastries, quiche, etc.) that are in the display cases that will be reheated and served. Additional items, such as sandwiches and plates, are prepared in the kitchen and served to your table. The building itself is quite historic and has a warm, inviting feeling. There are table sand chair outside, along the patio, inside near the kitchen area, as well as a pretty cool, private 8-person table upstairs which is near the additional restrooms. We decided to share the Vegetarian Quiche ($9.25), which came with Garlic Mushroom, Onion Jam, & Gruyere. The quiche was small and a nice starter for both of us. The ingredients were simple and the flavor was very nice. I went with Ellie's Breakfast Sandwich ($10.25), which consisted of Egg, cheddar cheese, green onion, and your choice of protein. When I asked to add chicken, I was told that chicken was not one of the options, but rather an upgrade, even though it was listed among the others. I decided to go with the turkey, along with an upgrade to the Butter Croissant ($2.00). The sandwich itself was pretty good. The croissant was super flakey on the outside and had a nice soft interior. The egg and cheddar cheese mixed well with the sliced turkey. It was a good sandwich, but a bit pricey at over $12. There was no side option, fruit, salad offered. My girlfriend went with Ellie's Benedict ($15.00) - a warmed croissant stuffed with spinach, Canadian bacon, whipped goat cheese and topped with 2 poached eggs, sliced tomato, hollandaise sauce and sprinkled with parsley. It also came with a small side salad. The presentation was great and it looked delicious. I was able to snag a small bite and I thought everything was delicious and the value for the price was good. After my breakfast sandwich, I decided to go to the counter and order one of the homemade Cinnamon Rolls ($4.50). It was warmed up in a convection oven and ready for me in just a few minutes to take back to our table. The size of the roll is good, and the frosting was tasty - a mild cream cheese and cinnamon infused delight with the right amount of sweet to share. Overall, I thought Ellie's did a nice job of providing good quality food in a quick, casual sit down environment. It's a good breakfast option whether you grab and go, or have a seat with your loved ones (furry friends also welcomed in the outdoor seating areas) for a nice unpretentious meal to start your day.
First time visit Great breakfast country burrito made fresh. Gets busy line moves quick enough. I will return to try other options.
Adorable cafe! Egan House is beautiful and the cafe did a good job of preserving its charm while creating a space for coffee and good food. You order first, then find a table with a number card. I loved the variety of pastries, salads, and sandwiches. I had the egg salad palm sandwich, beet salad, and chicken salad (which has an up-charge for the plate). I loved the beet salad. The chicken salad was a bit grape-heavy for me but also very tasty. The egg salad sandwich was OK. I was thrown off because there are chopped gherkins in the egg salad and I'm not a pickle fan, but that's my personal preference. My matcha latte was delicious. I also took a chocolate croissant home, which was more bread-y than flaky. The staff behind the counter were a little impatient while we were ordering, and then they forgot my friend's croissant benedict. She waited 20+ min before going back to ask about her order, and they then got around to making it. After that, the servers were very nice and kept checking on us. Overall had a good time, but the food wasn't exceptional and the service fell a little short. Still a very cute place to get a bite and catch up over coffee. Tip: they have a tiny parking lot but don't bother if it's busy. Drive up a little further past the cafe and there is a free parking lot beside the park. Next to the free lot there is a paid lot as well.
We had a memorable and delicious lunch at Ellie's Table. They offer a wide menu selection, delicious food, and the staff were so friendly. The restaurant is a historic landmark in the heart of downtown San Juan Capistrano, there is a free parking lot nearby and a ton of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. Highly recommend and will absolutely be returning when I find myself in the area again.
This is by far the best breakfast/brunch place I've been to in recent memory. Honestly possibly the best spread in Southern California. The menu is expansive so if you have several people I recommend sharing items to get more of the full menu. The prices are also incredibly reasonable in 2024. Maybe even cheap to be honest. Came here with a friend and his sister-this is what we had: Apricot bar-not even a fan of sweets but light, delicious, chewy and downright delicious. Turkey focaccia-an absolute revelation. We got the last one and I thank god we lucked out. Tarragon chicken salad-light, sweet and savory. Fantastic Fried chicken sandwich-well fried, moist and tender breast. Fried chicken biscuit and gravy-hearty gravy, full of flavor with a soft and light biscuit and the same great tender well fried chicken breast. Breakfast sandwich and breakfast potatoes: well seasoned, great bread and cooked to order potatoes. New favorite place for brunch hands down. Very cozy ambience. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Came here for my 2nd time. Place is pricey but the ambiance and food is always delicious. We ordered again the asada fries, which is our favorite item to share. My friend did the spanish omelette again and really enjoyed it. I tried the croque madam, it was really delicious but I think the irish Benedict is better. S'mores latter is still delicious but having it with whipped cream is even better, too bad its an extra charge for whipped cream. Pineapple Dole Whip Mimosa looked good but it really didn't taste great. The whipped cream wasn't needed but I get the idea for looks and to get the name. It would have just been good to have a toothpick of pineapple chunks than the sugar rim & whipped cream. Plus, I hardly taste pineapple in the champagne. I gave my drink to my friend to finish for me. I wasn't a fan of that drink. I think our favorite is the Raspberry Mimosa. Service was great! Kyle, helped fix our drink and staff was great in clearing our table. We spent about $160 total on food and drinks but its worth the experience of having a nice brunch with good friends for the weekend. Just ensure you arrive before 11am to get parking. The first time we arrived, parking was all taken. They only have like 4 parking spaces, so after 11am, it will get busy.
I love finding new restaurants that I like! Lattes are all great. I got the Fruity Pebbles latte (photo attached)--omg they drew a bird on my latte!! Besides in LA when I went to get art on my latte at the Baker, The Butcher, and Cappuccino Maker this is the best art I have seen. Pastries are A+ You order in line and they give you a buzzer and you find your seat. So the point deduction comes from the food. Took a longgg time for food to come out. I think they are understaffed cuz the staff was def. hustling and this was a Saturday so I'm sure it was a busy day. Seats: were very easy to get. Loved sitting on the patio overlooking the street. Parking: easy to find I found street parking (free) did not use their parking spot. Food: Chilaquiles- it was good not great Burrito Breakfast-good not great. Presentation on all food was awesome would like to try different items.
Visited for breakfast and was really happy we did! Really cute spot in San Juan - stays busy but moves quick! Good options, lots of pastries. I think the eggs had butter which did hurt my tum a little (food allergies) but I didn't specify my dairy allergy. Everything was yummy! Would come back for sure! I want to mention the gf/dairy free blueberry muffin was amazing! Trust me - I've tasted a ton of pastries and often they are dry, unflavored, chalky. This one was delicious, moist, flavorful. I'm so happy we stopped by!
